FREE LESSONS · PRACTICAL SKILLS

Free Python and AI learning resources

Make your first Python program, test your reasoning and build something you can explain. These free lessons are available now. Lumio's app-based missions are still being prepared.

Choose a practical starting point

Start with a short project, not a giant course. Every guide here includes a next action and explanations you can use with a regular Python 3 interpreter. You do not need a credit card, an AI API, or previous programming experience to begin.

CHOOSE YOUR LEARNING PATH

What should you learn first?

Choose the path that matches what you can do today. Everything linked below is free to read right now; the Lumio mobile app itself remains in development.

Prefer a day-by-day path? Follow a free 7-day Python for AI practice plan with a testable mini-project.

Not sure where to begin? Follow the complete free AI engineering from scratch guide, then choose a beginner project with a realistic time estimate.

I have never written code

Start with printing text, variables and arithmetic. Spend roughly 20 minutes on a working example, then see if you can change it without copying.

I understand the basics

Practice conditions, loops, dictionaries and functions with short challenges. Try before expanding the worked answers; identify one error you corrected.

I want a small portfolio project

Build a rule-based Python chatbot with executable tests. It is not a trained language model, but it teaches the control flow used around real AI systems.

Build and test the FAQ chatbot ↗

I want to become an AI engineer

Map a path through Python, data, ML, LLM apps, retrieval, evaluation and deployment. Pick a project for each stage instead of collecting tutorials without building.

See the complete AI engineering roadmap ↗

How should you progress?

  1. Run a small Python program and predict every output line.
  2. Practice with exercises, tests and errors until the language feels familiar.
  3. Build the chatbot and explain why its exact-match rules are not an AI model.
  4. Use the AI roadmap to learn data, machine learning, LLM apps, evaluation and production engineering.

What should you keep for your portfolio?

Save your project source code, a short README with setup instructions, expected output and at least one limitation. Explaining a real test or corrected bug is more meaningful than copying a polished demo. These exercises are educational guides, not promises of qualifications or employment.
